As I began researching my family history I quickly learned who kept records, about what, and how to obtain them.  I bought many books on how to find family records and as I read them I learned about the NARA, census records, Register of Deeds offices, courthouses, family bibles, cemeteries, and churches.  It had never dawned on me that churches keep detailed records on their congregations, but I was excited about this new source of information.  The first church I contacted about records was the church I attended as a child:  Dutch Cove Baptist Church.
